Radiation therapy offered at the National Centre for Radiotherapy and Nuclear Medicine is based on innovative technology in high precision radiation delivery. 3- Dimensional conformal radiotherapy and other cutting edge techniques such as Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and Volumetric arc therapy (V- MAT) are practiced with attention to every detail of patient safety.
Brachytherapy
Brachytherapy is a major component in the treatment of cervical cancer, a common female malignancy in Africa. We offer High- Dose –Rate (HDR) intracavitarybrachytherapy treatment with a multi- source HDR after loader and 3-D treatment planning.
Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine is a branch of medical imaging that uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of, or treat a variety of diseases. These include many types of cancers, heart disease, gastrointestinal, endocrine, neurological disorders and other abnormalities within the body.
Chemotherapy
The National Radiotherapy Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Centre has a well-coordinatedand highly structured chemotherapy administration system. The Centre has an on-site pharmacy that stocks chemotherapeutic agents procured from well- known pharmaceuticals that have the necessary approval from Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA).
