A Centre of Excellence Since 1997
Established in 1997, the National Radiotherapy Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Centre is a Clinical Department of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and a Centre of Excellence in cancer care. Our multidisciplinary team brings together oncologists, medical physicists, oncology nurses, nuclear medicine physicians, radiation therapy technologists and other specialists to care for people with solid tumours and certain benign tumours. Through radiotherapy, chemotherapy and radionuclide services, we provide comprehensive care guided by evidence-based medicine, advanced technology and attention to each patient’s quality of life. Our academic affiliations and research help strengthen clinical practice and the training of future healthcare professionals.

Radiation Therapy
External beam radiation therapy and brachytherapy deliver carefully planned ionizing radiation to treat solid tumours and selected benign tumours.
Chemotherapy and Nuclear Medicine
Our teams provide chemotherapy and nuclear medicine services, including radionuclide-based care where appropriate, with pharmacy support.
Consultations and Ongoing Support
Consultations and patient care bring clinical guidance together with counseling and survivorship support throughout the care journey.
Technology Guided by Clinical Expertise
Advanced technology and innovative techniques help our specialists plan and deliver care for solid tumours and selected benign tumours. Medical physicists and radiation therapy technologists work alongside clinicians to apply ionizing radiation through external beam radiation therapy or brachytherapy, with treatment tailored to each patient’s needs.
Coordinated Treatment and Support
Chemotherapy and radionuclide-based approaches expand the treatment options available through the Centre. Oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, nurses and pharmacy professionals coordinate these services with consultations and supportive care, drawing on evidence-based practice to address both treatment and quality of life.
